Steve Jones

Sound designer, musician, improvisor and sound artist, Steve Jones has had a long and relatively successful career in electronic dance music as one half of the production duo ‘A Man Called Adam’. Their music continues to be synched for film and television and has been included on million selling compilation series such as the Cafe del Mar and Hotel Costes albums (bit.ly/cmDKd4, bit.ly/drXz6V bit.ly/pE3xAW). In recent years they have worked as sound designers on projects for the Miraikan Museum, Tokyo and the BME (British Music Experience) at the O2 Centre, London. In 2009 Steve returned to full time education, completing an MSc in Sound Design at Edinburgh University. His dissertation ‘The Sound of Memory’ was awarded the department’s annual prize for outstanding contribution 2010. Since graduating, his sound design work has included commissions for the British Museum and the National Science Museum. He is currently working on a new trans-disciplinary project under the name ‘Discrete Machines’ and an audio-visual work was recently exhibited at the Engine Room, Morley College, London, celebrating the work of avant-garde composer Cornelius Cardew.

Phil Lee

Phil LeeGraduating with a distinction from the MSc Sound Design program at Edinburgh University, Phil has now set-up his own freelance sound design company ‘eeL_Audio’, which offers accomplished sound design and audio post production throughout a wide variety of digital audio media. He thinks outside of the box and has his own unique style that has mostly been expressed through film drama and documentary (currently 21 credits) and art installation work. Numerous sonic art installation commissions completed include, a lengthy 2-piece soundscape designed for Glasgow International Festival of Visual Arts 2010 and 3 major projects for the ‘85A Collective’ and ‘Lowsalt Gallery’ based in Glasgow.
His dissertation project titled ‘Virtual 3-Dimensional Sound as Art – Presentation, Interaction and Immersion’ involved in-depth understanding of both the FMOD and Max/MSP software tools to design a complex project that investigated unchartered artistic territory which he hopes to build upon in the future.
He has ambition to continue to develop his unique style through a broader range of film work and to utilize his non-linear experience to explore sound design for video games.
