Film Studies and the School of Arts, Cultures and Environment, with the assistance of Screen, present Michel Chion.

We are delighted to announce that Michel Chion will present an audition musicale (11am) and a talk (5:30pm) about his work at the University of Edinburgh on the 21st January 2009 - see below for details of times and locations.

Michel Chion is known as both a composer of experimental music and as a theoretician and writer on sound and the moving image. He is currently associate professor at the Université de Paris. His books are often referenced by academics at the University of Edinburgh and his seminal book “Audio Vision, Sound on screen” is a core text on our MSc in Sound Design.

The audition musicale will take place in the Reid Concert hall at 11am and run until 1pm : Reid Concert Hall, Bristo Square, Edinburgh EH8 9AG [MAP]

Professor Chion will also give a presentation about his work at 5:30pm at the Hugh Robson Building, ground floor Lecture Theatre, George Square (a modern building in the middle of the north side of Square [MAP]) at
5.30pm. There will be an opportunity for discussion over a glass of wine in the foyer of Chrystal MacMillan building after the talk [MAP].
